New Jersey has brought so many amazing and seriously hard bands over time.. you all know the names very good. LIFELESS is the next name to add to that list of bone breaking hardcore.
The first thing that came into my mind when i started listening was a beatdown version of 100Demons and i still think (after listening to the record for a felt thousand times) that is pretty accurate. this is hard as nails... like.. the torture scenes in "Neighbour".
Starting with the intro (that is connected to the first song), you'll know exactly what kinda ride you are in for with the first riff. A band that has one of the best moshparts and a singalong in their intro already can't be bad right?! correct. I mean most bands keep stuff like this for their final song, the BEST song, these guys bust it out on their intro and from here on it only gets better!

I don't wanna get to specific about songs here because i can't really pick which ones i wanna talk about, they are all great. and by great I mean brutal. Filled with beatdown parts, doublebass parts, gangvocals and tons of sing-a-longs (which is rare in todays beatdown universe if you ask me), the barking voice reminds me of old SHATTERED REALM and a darker version of DENIED. Eurokids will very probably compare this to NASTY and they are right to a certain degree. LIFELESS make good use of their style of beatdown hardcore and overall are a lot slower than NASTY, "NLFTW" feels a lot more balanced than NASTY though, which i give credit to the good dosis of old american beatdown hardcore in the vein of (again) DENIED and BULLDOZE.

Guestvocals come from none other than James Stikman Ismean from Fury of Five and Boxcutter (on "No Way Out" and Max from DoubleDealer (on "Disgust"). my favorite guestpart here though is from John AnimalHouse, he's on the titletrack "NLFTW".

Overall its an amazingly well written and brutal record!! Especially for todays beatdown standards. I can't wait for the eurotour these guys will in do March!

for exterminators of the fuckin' weak and fans of 100 Demons, Denied, Nasty, spiked baseball bats.

today i wanted to get up at 8am to go downtown and get some stuff... i woke up earlier though at 5am. so i though well you might as well have make it a chilled day then and start it slow. i decided to have bread with fried eggs. as i wanted to start the bread turned out to be all mouldy and i just bought it two days ago. thats when i started to suspect the day becoming shit. so i opened the trashcan and saw that not only the biotrash was full, but also someone threw chickenbones into the normal trash. i started to become pissed off. i went out to throw it all into the big trashcan outsite just to discover it was locked with a padlock (because SOMEONE YEARS ago threw his shit in there without living in the house...). so after searching 20 minutes for the key and finally throwing all the shit away i went back inside again all pissed off. i decided to skip breakfast. made some coffee, put on sara bareilles brilliantly beautiful album "kaleidoscope heart" and tried to chill. i checked the fried and saw that i still had a piece of crispy chicken left so i put that into pan and fried it, threw in two slices of toast as well and had that for breakfast topped with some gouda cheese. lovely. after that i went onto the balcony and sat down with a steaming hot mug of coffee to chill out some more. and if the twittering of the birds weren't enough to calm down my soul, the best thing in a while happend. i was visited by a squirrel. i sat totally still for a while so it must have thought i'm just some thing there and not a threat. it jumped from the yard onto the ledge, must have used one of the bushes as a help, and sat there for a moment, looked at me and started cleaning itself a bit before it left again and climbed a tree. i watched it for a while jumping from tree to tree and finished my coffee.
maybe this day won't be that bad at all :)

first of all the visibly obvious: new look! my friend Sonja from http://sonjasxe.blogspot.com/ made me a new layout and i totally love it! It's not perfect, but thats not her fault and I hope we'll get that little thing thats bugging me fixed real soon!

second thing: i just finished reading "FLASHFORWARD" by Robert J. Sawyer. YES it is the novel that gave foundation to the ABC series by the same name. The novel though only has the science and philosopical content with a bit of human drama. theres nothing in there from all the crime and conspiracy stuff the series had. i prefer the story from the book even though i loved the series, which unfortunately got cancelled after just one season. I recommend this book to everyone who liked the series, likes THE BIG BANG THEORY and / or has general interest in science.

there is nothing like waking up at 7am on a saturday morning, having all day to do stuff. i started the day with a hot cup of coffee on my snowfilled balcony watching the snowcovered backyard. i seriously can't remember the last time we had that much snow here in december. the only time i remember having snow was around christmas (a holiday i frankly don't give a fuck about). i totally love this view. i switched on the tv and watched a show with Gable Painter about a house he and his team renovated. i love these shows. As my cat woke up i gave him food and water, played a few minutes with him (well he played with his little toymouse and i watched him) and then he went back to sleep. now for everyone who says that you can't train a cat: you are wrong. but you need a good relationship with the cat otherwise he won't give a fuck about what you want him to do. mine totally knows that his place is where my camouflaged blanket is. he tried to get into my bed a few times but i always shoon (word?) him away and showed him where his place was, trying different locations to see which one suits us both best. right now its the blanket put over my bed during the day and folded on the second chair in the evening / night. its MY choice of places and times and not his. so yeah you CAN train a cat. its normally my brothers cat but he likes me more since i treat him better and generally take care of him, so he thanks me with playing along my small set of rules.
right now i'm having my second coffee and listening to some music. Started of with Bob Dylan, R.E.M. and right now i'm listening to Juli (a german band). i won't listen to anything metal or hardcore here now since i'll be on a concert today from about noon on till no idea when. thats enough heavy riffs and mosh for me for the day. since the show has a fleamarket as well i will also try and sell some old stuff of mine (cds, dvds, etc.).

i love waking up early on weekends.

Put the best of TERROR during their first three records into a blender, add the tempo and catchyness of DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR, finally spice it with some MUSHMOUTH. Decorate the outcome with a Cheap Thrills flavoured cherry and you got LOOK MY WAY.
I refuse to call this a demo because the quality of the recording is far better then the stuff some other bands call ALBUM. Also it comes with a 4 page artwork and all the lyrics, so if you ask me i'd say it's an EP and should be sold for 5 bucks. The material certainly deserves this. Sporting exmembers of Cheap Thrills, Another Victory and Kill This Dream, these guys are not new to the scene which shows in the quality of their demo. Clocking in at around 14 minutes, you get a defining Hardcore 101. There is no weak song on this demo and the quality of LMWs songwriting can compete with leading Tough Guy Bands worldwide. Each song is filled to the max with pure realness and holds parts for everyone... stage dives, sing a longs, brutal moshparts and lyrics that even DEATH THREAT couldnt have written better.
The quote from "Carlito's Way" (yes it is Al Pacino, no it's NOT Scarface) could not have been chosen better. LIke Carlito being released from prison back to the streets, these guys may sport a new name but they definitly aren't new in town, in fact they have been on the map for a long time and they are tighter than most long running hardcore band.

Normally I am a VERY harsh critic, ripping apart the smallest error but there simply is none. It's a flawless victory and they even manage to pull of a "Finish Him"-Move, thats how good this is.

For Fans of HARDCORE.

live bootleg guidelines

Picture
You need to have a good video quality, it doesn't have to be HD but nowadays HD Cameras are getting cheaper and cheaper. make sure the cam has either the possibility to shoot in good quality with a longer exposure or has a good nightshot (i suggest SONY, cause they have 0-Lux nightshot, which means you can shoot in total darkness and still see some people) also if you are not able to hold the cam steady while filming, buy a monopod. thats like a broomstick that you can attach to your cam, it will improve the stability of the picture a lot.

Sound
Because its a LIVE video, a decent sound is absolutely mandatory. theres no use of a good picture if the sound is just a mash of bass and the occasional cracks. If your cam has a port for an external microphone: GET ONE. they arent very expensive (i paid 150€ when i got mine years ago). it will improve the quality of your video massively.

Zoom
Don't overuse your zoom. mostly a total shot is the best choice, capture as much action as possible.

Placement
check the surrounding before you start shooting and think about the best location. if you have access to the stage (i.e. the people in the band and the securitys, if there are any are ok with you being on the side of the stage): get there and shoot from there! you'll have a perfect view of the band and the pit, also you might even profit from the monitor sound. in front of the stage is NEVER a good place to be, mostly because thats where the action is and if you film the band you'll have a face and the ceiling and thats shit. if you have a monopod or trypod even, you also may choose the soundboard as your location but make sure that the soundguy is ok with you being there. if none of both is accessable to you, you will have to find the next best spot. sometimes you wont be able to do anything about and shoot from the crowd.

"the pit"
If you are filming the pit, dont zoom onto people, no one on the internet cares about your stupid friends' faggot moves. get a total of the whole pit or a part of the pit if that is where the action is best. don't zoom on their faces etc... if theres a fight, ZOOM! don't stop filming! there will be enough people trying to break it up so you might as well try and catch as much of the fight as possible.

"the band"
use the zoom to get details of the band (drummer, singer close up etc) but dont do it too often and not if the band is a very energetic one. rather get the action.

"shut the fuck up"
theres enough people in the room making noise already, no one wants to hear you sing the wrong way, talk shit or anything else.

be thankful!
always at least try and give the band a copy of the show in the best possible quality! if necessary burn it onto a disc and send it to their home.

what when the show is lame?
well either stop filming and delete it again or if you chose to continue, try to get good footage of the band, maybe your stuff ends up in a live-footage-clip or on a dvd of the band.

DISSECTING "SIX FT DITCH"

Most people in the scene see SFD "only" as a hard mosh band with brutal lyrics. But there is so much more this band if you are into the right things. I want to try to reference as much as possible here. so here we go.

(NOTE: I'm sure i will miss some of the references, but theres just SO much in there.... Also i will leave out some of the VERY obvious ones)

The Bandname: "SIX FT DITCH.
a common grave is 6 feet deep. so a "Six ft Ditch" could be seen as the picturization of a person dumbed in roadside ditch, left to die. The bandname is spoken "SIX FOOT DITCH" though instead of SIX FEET DITCH. its also written FT not FOOT. theres no particular reason i think, just a creative choice. correct me if i am wrong.

Their First release: "FACES OF DEATH"
The Title of the record is also the title of a Mondo-Mockumentary Series about ways to die and the cruelty of humanity towards themselves and other living things. The Series has spawned a lot of controversy, it was even demend snuff because it had some real scenes of killings etc. The series was/is banned in a lot of countries.

The Cover of the record is the most famous scene from Dario Argento's classic Giallo "Opera".

The first thing you hear on the record is a lenghty quote from Sam Raimi's cult-Splatter movie "EVIL DEAD".

The Title of the track "TALES FROM THE CRYPT" is of course a reference to the Comic- and Televisionseries by the same name. The Series as collection of horrorstories from all subgenres Horror has to Offer. There are also two movies, "Demon Knight" and "Bordello of Blood".
Also the Opening of this song is sampled from the movie "Let sleeping Corpses lie" (thanks Swoz!)

AFTERSHOCK (RAISE THE HAMMER) COULD be seen to be about The Yorkshire Ripper, who killed prostitudes with a hammer in England.

As the great Swoz pointed out, the beginning from "UNTIL THE END" is taken from "An american Werewolf in London"

The opening quote from "INTO YOUR GRAVE" is of course from the iconic opening of George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" The movie that basically started the Zombie-Genre. A cult-classic movie that spawned 2 remakes and numerous sequels.

The sounds you can hear at the beginning of "READY FOR COMBAT" are from a FRIDAY THE 13th. movie. Composer Harry Manfredini created the "ki ki ki ma ma ma" soundcue and it became the acoustic trademark of the series. he took the sounds from "kill" and "mom" from the movie.

The final sounds of the song are taken from "EVIL DEAD" as well i think, i could be wrong here though. (I have been corrected here, thanks to Swoz! this is taken from ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS)

Their second release: "UNLICENSED CEMETARY"
The opening title of the record is kind of a three-part quote. It starts of with a Dialogue from HALLOWEEN, the guitars are playing a musiccue from HALLOWEEN. the song then switches to a song from CHARLES MANSON & THE FAMILY called "Always is Always forever". Of course this is THE Charles Manson, who was involved in multiple murders, most famously that of actress Sharon Tate, who was Roman Polanskis Wife at that time.

The Title of the Track "MARCH OF THE SFD" is apparently a hommange to the Stormtroopers of Death song "MARCH OF THE SOD".
In the same song you can hear the line "bringing it back like my man Herbert West". Herbert West is the titelcharacter in H.P.Lovecrafts "RE-ANIMATOR" which also spawned three movies. Herber West is a Doctor experimenting on a drug that can bring back the Dead to life. The three movies are called "Re-Animator", "Bride of the Re-Animator" and "Beyond Re-Animator".

The quote "believe me, if i started murdering people, there'd be none of you left" at the end of the song is a quote from Charles Manson.

The next track's title "CIELO DRIVE" is also a reference to Charles Manson. Cielo Drive was the road that Sharon Tate lived on in Beverly Hills when she and the friends that were with here were murdered by the Manson Family.

the next songtitle "UNHINGED" is also the title of a 1982 Horrormovie, where three girls go to a mansion to seek shelter from a rainstorm only to find out that the owner of the mansion has a dark secret.

The opening quote from "TIME TO TAKE IT BACK" is a part from a news report about the first known female serial killed Aileen Wuornos. A movie about here was shot in 2003 called "MONSTER" with Oscarwinner Charlize Theron playing the role of Wuornos.
The quote in the middle of the song is also about Wuornos, taken after a court hearing.

The quote from the beginning of "VICTIMIZED" is of course and unmistakable about the "SON OF SAM" Adam Berkowitz, who terrorized New York with a series of Killings in the 70s. Berkowitz became one of the most iconic Serial Killers.

The whole track "A reflection of you" is one long quote from Charles Manson.

Their third release: "VOICES FROM AN EVIL GOD"
the title of the record is a quote from Peter Sutcliff, the Yorkshire Ripper.

The Artwork in this record is very mentionable when it comes to references.
The two middlepages are filled with photos from Serial Killers and Horrorfilm characters and a quote by Ted Bundy. There's also a photo inside, take during a liveshow of the band, taken in belgium, that shows a hockeymask on an amp. The hockey mask is of course a reference to Jason Voorhees, the notorious killer from the FRIDAY THE 13th-Series. Same goes for the hockeymask on the CD itself. The font that was used for all the texts inside the booklet is also the original FRIDAY THE 13th font.

The quote at the beginning of "Portsmouth Murdercore" is taken from Rob Zombie's "HOUSE OF THOUSAND CORPSES" spoken by the character Captain Spaulding played by Sid Haig.

The song "Six feet Deep" contains a quote from THE OMEN.

The title of the song "B.T.K." is a reference to Dennis Rader, the BTK Killer. standing for BIND TORTURE KILL. The Song also contains a quote from Rob Zombies Movie "The Devil's Rejects" ("I am the devil, and I am here to do the devil's work").
The line "everyone in this house, dead by dawn" is a direct reference to EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN.

The opening quote on "MURDER ONE" is taken from Lynette Fromme, a member of the Manson Family.

The opening quote from "Villainz" is taken from the 1979 Tv-Movie "Salem's Lot" based on Stephen King's bestseller. The quote in the middle of the song is taken from the movie "THE DEVIL'S REJECTS" by Rob Zombie, spoken by Sheri Moon Zombie.

The opening quote from "Blood on the Soil" is from a documentary about the case of the "BLACK DAHLIA MURDER". A very famous murder case from 1947. Elizabeth Short was murder in Los Angeles.

Weird Dreams

Last night i have had the most disturbing dream in recent years. It wasnt particulary disturbing but the way it went down was weird. I tend to remember my dreams for a short while and then forget about them like after I've had my morning coffee. Not this one because it woke me up.
It was like a scene from a crime movie when two people chase someone else. I was checking an apartment complex with someone else, we had guns, being very careful etc. like Cops but I didnt get the feeling that we were the good guys but thats not important. After a while we cancelled and went to the next complex which was the same one as before but this time we found what we were looking for. A person took off when he saw us, running like hell. So we chased this person. He ran upstairs and we followed slowly checking the floor, room by room. nothing. then we went to the next floor and here is where it started to get weird. we checked the floor but it was the exact same scene as the floor before. i mean it was really the EXACT same, like you took a scene from a movie and copied it and put it into a loop. this was the case for the remaining three or four floors (i dont remember how often it happened) so the scene kept looping a few times.
Then the loop got shorter somehow and was focused on a room we searched. Starting with kicking in the door. Room checked, leaving it, cut, kick in the door again. Loop. Room checked, leaving it, cut, kick in the door again. Loop. and so on. a few times. The the loop again shortened: we checked the last room which had a walk in dresser. the loop was just a second long and it was just me kicking in the door to the dresser and pointing my gun into the dresser. loop, kick, gun. loop, kick, gun. loop, kick, gun. loop. loop. loop. loop and so on. i dont know how often it repeated but thats when i woke up totally confused. couldnt sleep again after that for about an hour.

Dark gray on Black, nothing fancy. Just darkness. the cover is appealing to me and it doesnt lie about the music. this is simple. but evil. terribly evil. what starts out as something you could wrongly take as euro-beatdown influenced hardcore transforms after the first half of the first song "bright sun" into something sinister, something plain evil. I'd call this one of the most dark and evil new hardcore bands i've heard in a long time. slow and heavy songs, roaring vocals and downtuned guitars combined with the style they play... it all blends into a beast thats ready to feast on your flesh.

Though i am very sure kids all around will be moshing their asses off to this, hurting friends and themselves, this is not a record to dance to. It is too slow (yes thats possible), too unstructured (in a good way!) and way too evil. you don't need to mosh to hurt others to this record. Theres also no "stand out" song on this record because you gotta listen to this thing entirely. Only this way it fully spreads its influence into your brain and it manages to bring out some disturbing thoughts out of everyone.

i have to be honest here... i avoided this recorded a long time because i thought it was cliché-beatdown but i couldn't have been more wrong. yes it is slow but in a doomy way. basically everyone should check this record. period.

first of all, yeah i fucked up my right foot once again. the swelling is mostly gone already, the toes are still black 'n blue, just like both sides, also it still hurts like a motherfucker. but it was worth it. just too bad i can't go off for Prowler and All Out War today. well... shit happens.
The best thing about FWH Fest was meeting new people and i met a lot of them! first of all all the Hamburg peeps which are just awesome. Then theres the Cold Existence guys and Cody & Kenneth. Its not too much when i say those all are my favorite americans for sure. and easily! Last but not least the crazy japanese guys from Doggy Hoods. I didnt like their album but that live show they played was incredible! The nicest people and so thankful for everything it's just a pleasure to be around those guys. Their show was a sign of how "hardcore worldwide" should be.

just wanted to get this off my mind before I move my ass to the JZ today again for the All Out War show. Welcome to the End!

DLS "Rumble in the Jungle" Review

Direkt eins vorweg: JA, DAS ist das Cover. Wer die lange entstehungsgeschichte dieser Platte kennt, wird sich allerdings auch über das Faultier nicht wundern. Lange Lange ists her dass die erste show gespielt wurde und man kann nur sagen, dass diese Zeit absolut sinnvoll genutzt wurde. Begannen DLS, was anfangs noch für "Dolph Lundgren Style" stand aber jetzt keiner wirklichen Bedeutung mehr zugehörig ist, als eine recht stumpfe Moshband die aus dem Einheitsbrei nicht wirklich herrausstach, so hat die Evolutionstheory hier mal ganz stark zugeschlagen! Was daraus wurde ist ein extrem erfrieschender Mix aus Tough Guy Parts, fiesen Breakdowns, sehr freudig klingenden groovenden Stellen und anleihen aus der Punkursuppe.
Wer DLS schonmal live gesehen hat kann sich denken was einen erwartet! Sei es als Mumien, Spandexkatzen oder Sexindianer verkleidet, oder auch einfach nur mal Nackt: Was bei DLS auf der Bühne regiert ist Spass an der Freude und eine gute Zeit. Das gleiche gilt für ihr Debutalbum.

Eine Textstelle pflanzt dann diese Spass-DNA auch dem letzten Hardcoreprimaten ins Erbmaterial, bei dem song "DLS Extravanganza" heisst es nämlich "You are talking about all your hardcore bullshit, you know what man, we don't fucking care, we wanna hang around at show and have some fucking fun."

Es stört auch absolut nicht das "Sänger" Sandro kein bisschen singen kann, er machts versuchts trotzdem in ein paar melodiös angehauchten Passagen und kümmert sich einen Dreck darum obs klappt oder nicht. Das lustige an der ganzen sache ist: es passt alles irgendwie zusammen und wird selbst nach dem 10x hören einfach nicht langweilig. Spätestens beim Bonus Track wird dann klar sein, dass man in dieser Band einfach macht worauf man bock hat und sich um die Meinungen anderer nicht kümmert. Das ist Punk.

Das Artwork im Stil an Zeitschriften wie "GEO" angelegt passt dazu wie die Faust auf das berühmte Auge, einfach weil es so absolut unpassend und eigentlich total Sinnfrei is.

Fazit: DLS ist meiner Meinung nach die erfrischendste Band die der Ruhrpott in den letzten 5 Jahren hervorgebracht hat.

ALLES RICHTIG GEMACHT!!!!!

auf grund kurzer Spielzeit und der langen Wartezeit gibts aber Abzüge in der B-Note, bleibt aber immernoch bei 8 von 10 IH8YH-Punkten!

Im Beatdown sagt man ja "Stumpf ist Trumpf" und Nasty sind inzwischen SO Stumpf, die sind schon wieder Spitz. Spitz wie nachbars Lumpi auf Viagra. Nasty werden einfach nicht müde, die kids im pit mit maximaler endverstumpfung die scheisse aus dem leib zu prügeln. oder besser: die kids dazu zu animieren, dass direkt selber zu machen mit dem prügeln. Das beste für diese CD wäre vorne ein Sticker gewesen "THE NEW NASTY. For Fans of NASTY" so wie die Slumlords es gemacht hat. wer Nasty kennt und mag kriegt 110% von dem was er haben wollte als er die cd gekauft hat.
Was an der Platte stört ist die hochgepuschte Spielzeit. Denn bei 12 Tracks gibts einen track mit gelaber einer dame über Himmel und Hölle und zwei interludes die eigentlich nur standard Nasty-style beatdown parts sind. hätte man auch irgendwie in nen song einbauen können. so bleiben 9 Tracks bei einer spielzeit von knapp 17min.
Aber das is auch irgendwie wieder gut, denn Nasty spielen ja eigentlich nur musik zu der sich die kids zu jedem moment im pit die köppe einschlagen werden, da machts dann nichts, wenn ein song wie "Fire to the People" oder "Fuck it" nur jeweils knapp über eine minute gehen. packt man halt mehr songs in die setlist und sagt hinterher "ey wie haben 20 songs gespielt! was wollt ihr denn noch?". eigentlich schlau.
Das Artwork reiht sich dann auch nahtlos in die stumpfheit ein. Das frontcover ist nur bei genauerem hinsehen als fickfinger zu erkennen, auf den innenseiten gibts dann links die texte, rechts ein livebild pro bandmitglieg und noch ein gruppenfoto das fototechnisch an totaler platzverschwendung grenzt).

Fazit: wer nasty will, kriegt genau was er will. Es wurden schon menschen mit weniger stumpfen objekten getötet (letzter satz from the mind of Cerberus Photography).

Uunbedingt den text von MASSAKERMUSIK lesen. Classic-Nasty!

i've been listening to too much Depeche Mode but this really is what i want....

I want somebody to share the rest of my life with, my innermost thoughts. Somebody who knows my intimate details. Someone who'll stand by my side and give me support. And in return she'll get my support. She will listen to me when I want to speak about the world we live in and life in general. Though my views may be wrong, they may even be perverted she'll hear me out and won't easily be converted to my way of thinking. In fact she'll often disagree but at the end of it all she will understand me.

I want somebody who cares for me passionately with every thought and with every breath, someone who'll help me see things in a different light. All the things I detest I will almost like. When I'm asleep I want somebody

Furthermore I want someone who listens to music I don't love but can like simply based on the fact that she likes it. I want to argue about what will be watched on TV. Someone who let's me win that battle this time only to torture me with some show for women the next time arguing with "last time we watched what you wanted" and i will let her have her way.

I want someone who makes me come along to some stupid concert and i will love it just cause i can she the joy on her face. I want someone who surprises me with a good cup of coffee when i need one but didn't ask for it. I want someone who puts her feet between mine at night because her's are cold and mine aren't. I want someone who steals my part of the blanket at night or rolls over and hits me with an arm while she stays asleep.

I want someone I can just sit with in peace and enjoy the silence with. I want someone who makes me carry are the grocies while she humiliates me while drinking a nice can of soda. Someone I can listen to cheesy music with and watch the sun go down. I want someone who makes download stupid music for her so she can torture me with it.

I want someone who makes me behave, who makes me be a better person, someone who gets the best out of me. I want someone I who tells me with just a look that everything is fine and will be alright....

Divine intervention?!

so many time has passed since we first met, but i still feel the same way as what must be about 1o years in the past already. and somehow overnatural reason we always cross paths again...
somehow something seems not to want that we two are not in contact. i don't know what it is or why and to be honest i also stopped caring about it. all i know is that i was terribly frightened today of what may come, what may be said... but after the first exchange i felt good, reliefed, free. i have no idea why but i am happy about it.

i will come and visit, this is a promise.
also i once said i will never forget you and i think i have proven this to be true today. i can't forget you. never. like i told you once, you are a part of me and nothing that was between us has ever changed this.

this butterfly is a part of my soul...

LENGTH: about 37 minutes. at 13 tracks

London, England: one of the most angry beasts has finally broken out of its cage. and its on the Prowl.
From the first moment of the track 2 (track 1 being an intro track) this record makes you wanna destroy people around you. it has more beatdown appeal than the usual so called "beatdown" band, yet calls something its own that is known to insiders as "intergrity". the vocals are spot on evil without sounding to "fabricated". its just some pissed off guy spitting his hate into your face. production is again extremely good but lets be honest, theres nothing else to expect when the credits say "record by sam thredded @ cro's nest". he always delivers a superb quality!
ok so where to put PROWLER? it has some of the meanest beatdown and moshparts i've heard in quite a while, has some pretty fast parts, even too parts for the usual 2-step kids. its just a mixtures of styles that feels right! everything fits together very well. i can hear a bit of Arkangel-hailing in some songs as well which is always a plus for me! just listen to the first riffs on "NEW BLOOD ANTHEM" and you know what i mean.
The fact that this record is long overdue and a couple of years in the making is setting it apart from todays moshbands as well because some of the songs on this record are really already a few years old! probably older than most of todays brutal mosh / beatdowns.
all this makes it an essential release for all the young kids out there that love to kick friends in the face on shows but also for the older folks that were around when the shit was still all real!

my absolute highlights from this record clearly are S.B.E. (which stands for "Smokin' Bare Emos" and "Time For Action" rounded up by a nice cover of Clubber Lang's "Varcity Violence" and very simple but very great artwork by Scott Move and some of the longest lyrics in recent hardcore history, at least from this end of the core.

10 out of 10! Easily!!!! with potential to make Paramedics do their jobs at shows! prepare for violence... don't say i didn't tell ya when you didn't protect yourself in the pit

LENGTH: about 42min. (theres a bonus track at the end and the bands 2005 Demo as an extra track)

Imagine a pub with a small stage, some half drunken musicians and a rowdy drunken bunch of people in the front, theres no moshpits, theres no stagedives, theres no pointing fingers. the only thing you notice is a million sing-a-longs and raised beermugs and fists! This is the kind of crowd Injury Time's debutalbum "THE VEX" is written for.
The overall feeling to this record is best described as 'pretty fast and damn catchy', songs like SKUNKNUTS and RETURN TO DUST are the most melodic and punky tunes i've heard in a very long time from a hardcore band, especially "RETURN TO DUST". The chorus of that song could as well have been from an early Dropkick Murphys record. Most of the tracks don't even feel like Hardcoresongs if you compare them to the rest of todays hardcore and thats exactly what i love about the record. It dares to be genuinly oldschool with a lot of punk-influence, some parts even have a crust-attitude.
The anatomy-style low-fi artwork ads to the overal 'fuck you' feeling. The sound of the record is perfect and doesnt need to hide behind records from big bands / labels.

A top-notch record for everyone who likes it rowdy!

a solid 7,5 of 10 on the IH8YH-scale with tendency to grow and ruin my voice on several occasions.

yes yes i know, i've been neglecting this for VERY long but i dont care.... i dont wanna fill this with useless rants and blabbering anymore.
but here is something i wanna share with you:

a band called AMENRA.
they are pretty known already but i had never seen them before. Yesterday i witnessed them and it was a very rare acoustic set inside a natural flowing stone cave. they played the three songs from their AFTERLIFE EP and acoustic versions of two other songs. i had goosebumbs throughout the whole thing, it was nothing but amazing.

and the title is meant literaly! I just saw James Cameron's AVATAR in the cinema and I have to say I am impressed. A LOT. Not only is it a great movie but it also managed to achieve a few things.

The most impressive things i guess are the non-3D Effects really. You dont really know if the whole vegetation of the planet is made in CGI or if any of it is actually real footage enhanced with CGI. I always caught myself looking for clues that it is CGI but i couldnt find anything. Leafs looked and behaved like leafs, water like water.... everything looked 100% real. except of course the obvious plants of planet Pandora that were created for this movie alone. but they all kind of look like plants that really exist, just a bit altered or enhanced even.

The second thing is of course the Na'Vi. The native population of the planet. During the First half hour or so I though "wow they look very real..." but more and more i got the feeling they really were. For the first time I didnt have this "yeah theres little bit here and there that show you that it is JUST very good CGI." What James Cameron achieved here is the 100% realistic display of fictional animated characters, even a whole race. The skin looks like skin (well blue striped skin that is), for the first time ever i think that their hair looked and behaved all real. If you remember the first FINAL FANTASY movie, have a close look at the hair in that one for example and you clearly see that it isnt behaving like hair would at all.
After an hour you take the Na'Vi for real people, real actors that are just a lot taller, thinner and well.... blue.

Did Cameron manage to create outstanding 3D-Effects. Not really if you ask me. YES it does look amazing and even better as in other 3D movies, but its not that it gave me another WOW-Effect after i saw some of the earlier released 3D movies. It clearly looks a better than for example "My Bloody Valentine" and the WOW-Effect would have been massive if AVATAR was the first movie with this new 3D-Technology.

All in all i have to say that AVATAR is an amazing movie, with absolutely outstanding special effects. The acting by Sigourney Weaver, Sam Worthington and especially Zoe Saldana, who's only acting achievement in this movie was her Face, since she played the leading Na'vi Character and her voice. She managed to fill this character with so much life through her mouth and cheeks only... an outstanding performance. (damn i really use the word "outstanding" a lot in this post..... oustanding!!).

on yeah and the action is pretty good too!
go see it and do it in 3D please.

so i finally found the time to say thanks to everyone who i met this weekend via this little thingy... all this unpacking, cathing up, doing the laundry and all the shit really takes time after only a weekend.
first of all i wanna say that I was TOTALLY unorganized this time... i forgot to print out my own little timetable for bands and doors as well as i forgot to bring my plug adaptors so i had to buy one. no big deal you might think but for me that is total chaos haha. So yeah, I had a GREAT time even though i had a mild flu (not swineflu!) on the first two days but I stopped caring and went out with some friends to have dinner at a very good and nice little japanese restaurant in Camden. The Festival itself was good, all the bands i saw smashed it. Got hold of some nice demos, received a VERY VERY amazing present from my friend May. you have no idea for how long i wanted one of those and was not able to get one :) that totally made my weekend!

I want to point out that apart from what everyone of you might think about it but to me London is the friendliest place on earth hardcore-wise. Everyone i met was nothing but amazing to me and thats all i could ask for.

Today marked the digital release of "Bomb in a Birdcage", the new album by A FINE FRENZY. I don't know if it is released as a physical version (aka CD) as well today cause this was my first ever digital purchase of a record.
So what's new in Singer and Songwriter Alison Sudols world?! Not alot and thats good!! i loved the first record and the general formular is still the same. Ranging from happy and joyful ("Blow Away", which was released as a Video already and became my most played song of all times pretty easily!! truth), to the overly calm and heartfelt songs ("What I wouldn't do" or "The Beacon"). The overall tone of "Bomb in a Birdcage" though is slighty "warmer" than that of its predecessor "One Cell in the Sea". Not that "One Cell in the Sea" was a cold record, but this time the nice parts are kind of a bit nicer, the fun parts are filled with more joy ("Blow Away" is the best example for this). Packed with some overly sweet lyrics ("If we were children i would have baked you a mudpie, warm and brown beneath the sun. Never learned to climb a tree but i would try just to show you what i'd done" from "What I wouldn't do"), sang with Alisons lovely voice ranging from very soft and fragile to overly selfconfident and filled with fun, with sometimes weird voicepatterns ("Electric Twist").
Every single song has the catchiest appeal and could stand alone as a single. theres no bad song on this record, All Killer No Filler, as Sum41 once put it.
My favorite song here, apart from "Blow Away" is clearly "Bird of the Summer" simply for its amazing vocal melody. I am totally sure that this record will put A FINE FRENZY a few steps higher on the stairway to international success. For me its the "non electric guitar" record of the year and Alison Sudol totally is the "bird of the summer" herself.
She said in an interview that she wanted to just have fun making a record this time and you totally can hear this inside the songs. The music here is so 'free' in a way, made without any pressure to prove something or to live up to certain expectations.
Some songs are so "underscored" kind of, there could be so much more music to them but its not necessary because they wouldnt deliver more feeling. A FINE FRENZY pulled maximum gain out of minimum effort! And i don't mean that this album is like a cheap shot, a hesitated thing because it clearly is not. What i mean is that the songs are just perfect as they are and more instrumental would even ruin them a bit maybe. Its an easy record that makes you feel good, feel warm inside.

Amazing record!!! 10 of 10 points
It's available through amazon, itunes and probably every other store as well! I will definitly get me a physical record of this as well.

so James Cameron showed about 20minutes of footage of his upcoming said-to-be groundbraking new movie AVATAR in 3D on ComicCon in SanDiego. now they show it in IMAX theaters in the USA for free and i was furious bout that. BUT "UCI KINOWELT" comes to the rescue and shows the same footage in germany, and even in 3D and EVEN for free!!!.

i stayed up all night to drive to the theather to get me tickets in case it might be "sold" out already. i managed to get four tickets and gathered some friends that want to see the stuff as well. it all will happen next friday at 6:40pm so expect my rundown and thoughts about what was shown sometime after that!

Running Riot 2009

so the first bands for this years edition of RUNNING RIOT hardcore festival in Camden, London has been released! I am pretty psyched already because this year it will be more an exhibition for UK-Bands and the UK has the best hardcore bands in europe, at least in my opinion! I have my hotel booked already and will book flights also this week via my good friend Phil, who will also be coming to the festival. Also I am totally looking forward to see all my UK-Friends! can't wait.
Here is a rundown on all the bands that are confirmed so far (those that i am looking forward to the most in bold letters): Black Friday 29 (germany), Breakin Point, Chains of Hate, Cold Ones, Cold Snap, Dead Swans, Deathskulls, Diction, Dirty Money, Down and Outs, Famine (ireland), Give (usa, featuring members of Lion of Judah and Desperate Measures), Hang The Bastard, Hard Target, Injury Time, Intentions, Ironclad and Union Town.

more bands will be added soon. Tickets will be priced at £11 a day and £20 for the weekend and will be onsale very soon from all usual Underworld outlets.
the festival will take place at the Underworld in Camden, London on October 24th and 25th.

- I'm pretty obsessed with an online game called The Hunter. It basically is kind of an online version of DEER HUNTER. you get the standard rifle with unlimited ammo, binoculars and the "huntermate" for free and may hunt Mule Deer on the small island. you gotta pay for everything else. the free stuff is totally enough though i think!

- My Ebay and email account were hacked, someone bought two iphones with my ebay account, payed with the automatic paypal option. my loss was 1000€. i have the money back, police is investigating.

- Florence and the Machine's debut album "LUNGS" is amazing

- I am looking forward to see DISTRICT 9, AVATAR, WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, THIRST, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS and more

- i wanted to go to a DVD Market tomorrow but its cancelled....

- John Hughes is dead. He did August 6th. Heartattack. He was only 59 and will be missed. He did movies that everyone knows, lots of you love them, some became absolute Cult Classics, like Ferris Bueller's Day Off or Breakfast Club. RIP.

yeah well its a total piece of bullshit...
the story is even lamer as the one from the original. you immediatly know who the killer is, its not very gory and there are only two real good 3D effects and they are both in the beginning of the movie.

LAME! don't waste your money on that! rather wait for the next animated 3D movies are out, for example ICE AGE 3D or UP.

I just read that Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are responsible for the soundtrack of the movie!! This is absolutely amazing since those two are not absolutely brilliant studio musicians but also did a brilliant job on the soundtrack of "The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford" (which you will know already if you follow my blog frequently...). Also i saw they did the soundtrack for a movie called "The Proposition" with Guy Pearce. I dont know anything bout the movie but the fact that those two did the soundtrack for that is fact enough for me to be interested in this movie. so I am getting both at the moment, movie and soundtrack.

seems to be the time for great discoveries in the film business... well i saw yesterday (i dont know who this could get past me without being noticed) that there is a second part of french agent-comedy "OSS 117" with Jean Dujardin playing the titlerole again. The first movie "Oss 117: Cairo - Net of Spies" was an absolute surprise hit on a festival where i saw it first and I totally love that movie since then! Now the second part takes the totally retarted but shockingly successfull french secret agent to Rio. since i dont speak french i have no idea what they are talking in the trailer but Dujardin's grinning alone makes me laugh already. It was in belgian and french cinemas already in April and will be released on DVD in october. if theres english subtitles on the dvd i will get me a copy! check out the trailer for part 2 here:

I paid 44€ (not that much you say, but its a fortune really) to go about 600km to southern germany to help my brother move back into my area here. first of the trainride was way too long, it took about 8 hours. last time i travelled that long i got of my desired way of transportation on the seychelles. this time i got off in the most forsaken and abandoned village i had ever seen in my life. theres virtually NOTHING and to just get a pizza we had to drive about 20 minutes by car, thats how shitty it was.so well we got to his (and his girlfrieds place, i never liked her from the beginning and that hasnt changed now and never will) and thats when i realised that this was going to be a nightmare.first of all you need to know that originally it was planned that i get there in the evening, stay awake the night, we get the van in the morning, pack all the stuff in and take off back home in the noon or afternoon. so i thought "well i'm not even there for 24 hours so i dont need any clothes to change and i will stay awake the night so i dont need any stuff to sleep in as well."

you already get the point: i was wrong.not even half of the stuff the wanted to take with them had been packed, furniture still had to be taken apart, and a fucking huge cagestructure occupied by 5 guineapigs was still not taken apart, nor was anything cleaned or whatever.also there was no place sleep for me and i had to stay in a chair that looks more comfortable than it
really was. i put my laptop on a small ladder so i could watch some movies during the night and tried to sleep which didnt work, because their cat jumped on me all night and tried to put her paws in my face and cuddle with me, which is basically very cute but not when you are pissed off, tired and want to sleep. my first night without sleep.tired as hell and with no breakfast, they got the van in the morning and we started to pack all the stuff, take the furniter apart and put it all into the van. it didnt take me long to realize that this would take a lot longer as originally planned. also it was cold and windy all day and it was raining every once in a while so i was basically putting cardboardbox after cardboardbox into the van with only sweatpants and a shirt on, because i didnt want my sweater to get wet in the rain since i wanted to wear it at night against the cold (cause the heating didnt work that well in the night before). so i was shivering, tired, pissed off and hungry all day.

As we were finished for that day, his girlfriend said "i'll be right back, gotta say bye bye at the horse stables" (yeah she still rides horses (the poor horses....) and also she puts totally corney little stickers with cats and horses on basically anything. its like theres a 26 year old woman with the hobbies of a 12 year old girl, ridicolous!). so we figured saying bye wont take that long and she took of with the van because it was parked in front of the garage and the other car was inside. we said we gonna get up at 4am to put the last stuff into the van and get the hell outta that place at about 6am to be home round noon. at about 11pm she still wasnt back and we started to be worried (i was only worried about the van and all of my brothers stuff that i packed in, i dont give a flying shit about her). i called my mom is she had her cellphone number but she didnt, my brother also couldnt remember it so he drove with the other car to the stables to see whats up, they came back at about 1am cause she had to clean the fucking box of her horse of what ever, i didnt care at all, i just told them to leave me alone that night and then i
started to watch "The Big Bang Theory", which by the way is a great sitcom about two caltech physicists.Again i couldnt sleep.

I watched the whole second season of the series that night and at 4am my cellphones alarm went off, i switched it off and then fell asleep for aobut 2 hours, got up shortly after 6 again and then we started to pack all the rest into the van (during this i slipped from the van while i was stuffing some box into a still free space, sprained my left ankle AGAIN and fell down. that was it for me that day, i didnt pack anything into the van after that but it was basically all done already), vacuumed the carpets, wiped the floors and finally took off towards home. came through pretty good and was home at about 6pm wednesday, overly tired, dirty as hell, hungry, thirsty, still cold from the day before.

i forgot two things: on wednesday we were at some carrepair shop since there was an unuasual noise while driving the car, so we had that checked. turned out the right frontal brake was used up till the metal and we had to have that replaced IMMEDIATLY. My brother was totally broke so i paid the 222€ to have it repaired and also argued the shopguy to do it RIGHT NOW or otherwise "i smash your fucking nose in"...i didnt care about anything anymore at that point, i just wanted to get home as fast as possible AND survive it.

Also my brothers girlfriend has a fucking annoying dog: a overly nervous dachshund who is just running behind everyone to see where they are going, if you turn around he immediatly runs away from you but still looking at you, so he runs into a lot of things all the time. also his tail is waggling around ALL THE TIME, even if he sits, so thats making a "clap clap clap" noise ALL the time when its hitting the floor. and the worst thing is the fact, that he is doing noises like a broken windscreenwiper ALL THE FUCKING TIME. i could have killed that fucking dog like 30minutes after i first saw him.

So well i am back.... poorer as i was before, tired like fuck (still, after i slept 10 hours here),
feeling sick as hell, my back hurts, my foot hurts, i am still pissed off about the fact, that those
people not only stole ONE day as it was originally planned but THREE days in total, due to lazyness, being unorganized and general fucked up-ness...

And to top it all off: all i had to eat and drink from Monday 10am till Wednesday 6pm: a totally
disgusting pizza that i didnt eat completely because it tasted like fucking leather. half a sandwich with sausage because it tasted like shit, two bites from a mcdonalds breakfast thing with meat and egg because it also tasted like shit and finally on our way back an incredibly awesome tastin burger at burger king on the highway. i drank a liter bottle of fizzy water, a mcdonalds coffee that was disgusting and a 1,5liter bottle of coke.

Please someone remind me, to never help my brother again, no matter what it is...

I had seen it in cinema when it was just out and now came across it again looking something up on Nick Cave (who together with Warren Ellis did the incredible soundtrack).

Its one of the most beautifuly shot movies I know, its pace its VERY slow and its a very quiet movie about one of the greatest outlaws in american history. A story about Idols and accepting Fate.
Its starring Sam Rockwell (who I think is one of the most talented actors of our times), Casey Affleck (brother of Ben Affleck, though Casey is clearly a much better actor!) as Robert Ford and the all brilliant Brad Pitt as legendary Outlaw Jesse James. Also starring are Sam Shepard, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeremy Renner (who proves more and more that he is an actor who will leave big footprint in hollywood sooner or later!). So you have a brilliant cast, an amazingly shot story with great detail for scenery, that takes all the time it needs (the movie is 160 minutes long) to tell this tragic story of a Wanna-Be Hero.

yesterday i was watching Monsters vs Aliens in 3D in the cinema and my pal Sandro and me immediatly how cool a splatter movie would be in this technologie! i knew that the remake of MY BLOODY VALENTINE was done in 3D and wanted to check out the release date but MattD, who left a comment on my Monsters vs Aliens review-thingy was faster and so I am now looking forward to May 30th and hope they will show it in 3D here in Germany too!!! If yes, I'll definitly will go and see this, even though i dont expect it to be a good movie (i LOVED the original, so it will be very hard to convice me!) but i want to know that it is like to see a horror movie in 3D haha

Today i gave this new 3D-Technology for movies a try and watched Disney's Monsters vs Aliens with "Intru 3D". They handed us some special glasses (not the old red/green ones, these ones made it just a little bit darker) and then it already started. It's definitly a really cool experience i have to say! I was sceptical before but i am convinced now that is a really great invention! the intensity differs from the "wow" combined with a duck & cover move, to "wow this looks kinda normal movie now but not really.... its cooler": there were different levels of 3D effects. I am pretty sure and willing to pay the extra 2€ again for another movie in 3D and right now i am very excited about James Cameron's upcoming movie AVATAR, which is said to be THE 3D Extravaganza and sci-fi masterpiece, a masterpiece of new technology. Its sheduled for november 2009 i think. next one i guess will be ICE AGE 3, the trailer was already cool in 2D but is so much cooler in 3D, especially when Scrat's nose is almost in reach for a touch and you are really temped to reach out for it!

So yeah this is definitly worth the extra buck!

that was my first thought after i watched this. today i had Phil Muccis (you'll remember him from one of my older posts here about his short movie "The Listening Dead") second short movie "Far Out" in the mail. (Thanks A LOT for sending me this one as well @ Phil) He warned me about this one since it is much shorter (it has a running time of just about 3 or 4 minutes? I didnt check the clock haha. and thats including the opening titles and the credits list at the end) and is very different from "The Listening Dead" although in the opening scene he again shows his love for a rudimentary form of Stopmotion and it as well has a "supernatural" theme. So what is Far Out? It is the 70s on LSD with an over the top male Partyking who put LSD in all the drinks and a bloodsucking female actress who kills off one party guest after another, only for you to find out that everyone seems to be dead already.
The style of Far Out screams "70s" VERY loud, its drenched in colors, weird cuts and angles. In fact if these scene would go on for lets say 10 minutes or longer you would know what LSD must be like, at least thats what i would imagine it. The only bad thing I have to say about it is the fact that is SO short! so phil... if you read this: please dont do such short ones :D

Right now i am even more excited about his first feature length movie than I was before and be sure that i will keep this blog updated on it whenever i have news!

Never before i have been that blown away by a new music discovery as thit time. Proof is that i have listened to their songs over a hundred times already and some of them are over ten minutes. They go by the name of "The Cinematic Orchestra" and wikipedia describes their musical style as nu jazz, acid jazz, Trip-Hop and Drum'n'Bass. After listening to "To Built a home" on youtube I immediatly checked out their other work and got caught in a mellow yet very moody soundscape. Some of their songs feature Vocals (like "All things To All Men", featuring London based Artist Roots Manuva, the already mentioned "To built a home" with vocals by Patrick Watson or the brilliant "All that you give" featuring Fontella Bass) but most are instrumental tunes, some of them (especially those on the album "Every Day") could easily be used in a cliché-loaden Film Noir Crime Movie about some fucked up Private Detective in New Orleans.

Their latest studio release came out in 2007 and is called "Ma Fleur" and is definitly their "easiest" record for the listener, since almost all of the tracks have a normal length of something between 3 and 7 minutes. So i suggest you start with this one if you wanna try this band.
It also has some pretty simple but very effective and beatiful artwork. The following video is of this very recording and its the fabolous "To Built a Home". Kept just as simple as the artwork itself it still has a lot of beauty (even if you dont like the two girls in the video). I dont know if it is an official video to the song, but if not its definitly a very good one, cause i think it fits the mood of the song. The other video embeded here is of "All things to all men" and is NOT an official video, i just wanted to give you the chance to listen to this song without searching for it yourself. So i hope you enjoy it at least a bit or even as much as i do. Oh and if you take the lyrics away from "All things to all men" you are pretty close to the sound of the instrumental songs of this band.

Friday the 13th remake

so i'm just home from the theater watching the new Friday The 13th movie, which is kind of a remake of the first four movies. let me first point out the bad things about this:
its uses all the lame methods of making a movie scary for the "usual" audience. that means Rain and Thunder to make it look more "horror-like". then shaky close ups of terrified people to make it more thrilling and finally the overuse of sudden loud soundeffects to create shocks. i hate these things A LOT.
And here's whats good about this remake and FROM NOW ON THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS:

1.i like the fact that the movie starts where the original first movie ends. the decapitation of Pamela Voorhees and then Jason steps into the scene as a child and picks up the machete. The beginning of a Legend.
2. i love that they used the Bag he had on his head in Friday Part 2 and gets his hockeymask about 30 minutes into the movie (like in part 3)
3. its cool to see how Jason is able to be at almost every part of the camp at every time without been seen.
4. i loved the scene right before he kills the chick with the antlers. that scene is just intense and shows you what a real monster of a killer Jason is.
5. a fast and running jason really is great!
6. i loved the scene where he switched on the lights in the camp to see and search for his enemy.
7. the idea to show that he actually lives in a compound of tunnels below the forrest / camp makes him more frightening than the old Jason i think. and i guess from one of the scenes you get the clue that he in fact is a cannibal and survives on whatever meat he can get out there.

Its not a masterpiece but its a cool movie and definitly better as Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X.
I enjoyed.

now i just watched the movie and i am VERY disappointed....
i'm not saying its a bad movie, its actually a good movie, no hit movie but enjoyable, funny in times and basically everything from the book is in except for some stuff in the end about the stone structure that CAN be left out but if you read it, it gives the story a different tone which i like much more than the ending of the movie.
So well, its a good movie and please watch it but only if you havent read the book. If you read it, please do not watch the movie.

First came to know about this aspiring director and massively talended photographer (he did a countless amount of pro-shots of various famous bands from different genres) on the Fantasy Film Fest 2007, when his Shortmovie "The Listening Dead" was part of the GetShorty Shortfilm Feature of the Fest.

"A beautiful homage to the silent film era" says atom.com but it is much more, its a love story, a story about passion, hate and revenge. All packed in a beautifully shot and incredibly styled 13-minute masterpiece.

This is a part from Cormac McCarthy's best-selling post-apocalyptic book "The Road". A story about a man and his son, trying to survive in a devastated world, with most of the population dead, ashen skies that let pass no sun at all and marauding groups of cannibalistic survivors after a world-wide catastrophe, that is not described any closer.McCarthy (who won the Pulitzer Prize for this book) paints a pessimistic picture of a world gone bad. the book is kinda hard to read cause he jumps back and forth between three different times (right after the incident, further after the incident and "now") and he doesnt care to tell you who of the people involved start a dialogue, but you can figure that out how that works pretty fast.His way to describe situations and places is nothing but incredible. you have to read it yourself to get a clue of McCarthy's genius.

The Book is currently made into a movie starring Viggo Mortensen as the man, Kodi Smit-McPhee as the boy, Charlize Theron as the Wife, Guy Pearce, Robert Duvall and John Hillcoat being the director. Moviestills right now give you only a limited picture of the world as McCarthy sees it in his mind. I am pretty excited about this Movie, sheduled for a late November 2009 release.Other Works of Cormac McCarthy that have been made into movies include the Winner of 4 Academy Awards in 2008 (including Best Picture) "No Country for Old Men", "All the pretty Horses" with Matt Damon, Sam Shepard and Penelope Cruz. "Outer Dark", directed by Sephen Imwalle and the two announced movies "Blood Meridian" and "Cities of the Plain". All Movies are based on books by McCarthy. Leaves me to say that i found a writer whos work i will check out, since "The Road" is just one of the best book i've read so far.

Highly recommened to check it out yourself as well to watch the movie.

Why is this posting called "Dead Flag Blues"? cause the overall sheme of "The Road" and the picture of the world he describes reminds me of the song Dead Flag Blues by the band Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Battle Hymns

yeah yeah i havent written something on here since 3 weeks, its a new year as well. So what was 2008 like?! what will 2009 will be like!? to be honest? if you know me you know what 2008 was like for me and i dont really care what 2009 will bring haha! what is more important is this 'hail-storm' of review that is coming up now.

I'm talking about the debut album by New Jersey's SUFFER THE LIVING. they first caught my attention with a 4 song demo some years ago. The line "featuring chris on vocals, original singer of Shattered Realm" was the eyecatcher back then and the demo was great but after that i went kinda silent.So in 2008 the band teamed up with germanys FILLED WITH HATE records and released their full length debut called "WAR IS ALL I KNOW".

This record for me is a milestone in true metalcore. Not the whiny tearstained clean-vocals, melodie-over-substance bullshit that bands nowadays think is metalcore, but a true statement to strength and integrity. Though it all begins with an intro that makes you think of power and true metalbands from the 90s, with bad electronic violins (i think thats what it is supposed to be), battle sounds with swords, horses and all what a good Lord of the Rings-tribute record (hello blind guardian!) needs, combined with a massive drum beginning and melodic riffing. you really get the impression of high speed blastbeats and no-balls-highpitched vocals coming up, but after about 2 minutes you know whats up with this record and what will follow for the next 35 minutes.

A barbarian battle axe massacre made out of bonecrushing riffs packed into breakdowns, melodies and finest guitarwork, pitbull vocals that even the Nazgul from Tolkien's epic novel would be affraid of. songs like "Battle Hymn of Copface and Foureyes" and "Sword of Ares" are masterpieces of true metalcore and not only hardcore bands can learn alot from this work, STL kicks even Metalass! BIG TIME.

This record is 37minutes of tough-as-nails melodic hardcore riffing with background solos, breakdowns and parts that make you want to mosh like a mental ogre on PCP. Sword of Ares is my most listened song at the moment (check my last.fm if you dont believe it) and my absolute tip to listen to if you want to check this band out.

I'm really excited to see this band live, i've heard they are coming over for tour in June/July this year and are apparently playing Pressure Fest and will do a weeklong tour with my boys in Fallbrawl, so i am pretty sure to catch these guys. if they can only deliver 10% of the records power live, they will destroy venues everywhere they go...

3th night in a row that i couldnt sleep? i feel like a (for various reasons its funny that i use THIS word now) Zombie. I've watched endless episodes of Scrubs during the night, normally i fall asleep after 1 1/2 episodes but not at the moment.... Episode after episode i'm just there and watching and watching. Sara Bareilles first ever LIVE DVD "Between the Lines: Live at the Fillmore" is out now and i love it. wonderful performance, the songs are great anyways, wonderfully filmed, just a stunning performance by probably THE newcomer of 2008 (at least for me). If you like good mellow pop music and live dvds. get this one.

Bareilles and her band are doing everything right on this release and i bet every single perfomance of them is as beautiful as this. The songs are even a bit mellowed down live compared to the album versions. Not like for example Kate Nash, who tries to put on a big Rock 'n Roll show live and totally fails, destroying all the beauty and fun of her songs and just leaving a thought of "i want my money back....". So yeah, Sara Bareilles is for me probably the best new discovery of 2008 and i hope her career will go on a long time. She not only deserves it, but i also think that music itself deserves it. And its not that she's doing something very different or new, but what she does, she does it with a lot of heart and you can see this very good on this dvd.

Its a passion, not a business. The way it should be.

Movie: THE STRANGERS

Liv Tyler screaming along in a bad bad american version of the French Movie "Il's" ("Them"). "Il's" was brilliant. A young couple being terrorised by a group of people in their house in the middle of nowhere. The movie was intense. VERY intense. it had NO soundtrack, no extra soundeffects and it was just intense and scary as fuck.
Now "The Strangers" is just the same. With a big name on it (Liv Tyler) so the usual american movie-retard discovers this movie cause the studios apparently are too dumb to get the word out about movies if theres no big name attached to it. Then "The Strangers" is SO "americanized"...it's just terrible. cheap thrills, overloaded by extra added soundeffects to make the not really scary shocks (which are ALL foreseeable as fuck as well) even more non-scary (just because they are all SO foreseeable). They have added the "usual" horror movie elements to the movie (for example messages written on windows (supposed to be scary?) the strangers wear masks (supposed to be scary?), etc.
Also Liv Tyler is SO bad in this movie that it actually hurts to watch her "act"....

please do yourself and me a favour and DO NOT WATCH "THE STRANGERS".

after a fairly well and quit ride with the train i'm hanging out frankfurt airport with about 4 hours to spare... right now i'm watching the latest episode of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (Season 2 Episode 6...latest that i havent seen) on my laptop and after that i gonna start with "The Sarah Silverman Program". I'm sitting on the floor in a corner of the terminal cause i have a powersurge here to fill up my battery before the flight. my baggage is already checked in, i just hope they put it on the correct plane.

on the plane right now and listening to Sinatra on the Headphones. all is cool so far, take off was delayed an hour but all is good now and we must be somewhere over Italy now. Just switched my Audiochannel to "The Pink Panther" which is on TV now. Though all i wanted to say is that i hate kids.... in every situation.i wanna throw them out of the plane....with or without parachutes...i dont care. this little bugger is crying at the top off his lungs since about an hour now. hes more annoying as young pigs getting castrated. and louder..and higher pitched... please somebody kill him...

arrived at my hotel, checked in and chilling a bit on the room. gonna explore the hotel today and get used to the climate. it was like a punch in the face when i got off the plane. its like 40° with VERY high humidity. like a black friday show @ papestrasse used to be a few years back hahamy room is amazing! its big, king size bed, shower, bathtub, toilette and one of these french things where it sprays you water on your ass. i have a tv and a safe, etc.gonna meet with the agent over here from TUI in about an hour and have something to drink before. today will consist of chilling, purely!its amazing here...words cant explain it..

i checked out the surroundings and went to the supermarket to get me some water and fanta and coke for my fridge, hung out at the beach and chilled a lot.i also booked two excursion for wednesday and one for friday. The first one is called "The Wild South" and its a bus ride around the island with stops at some of the most memorable places... well yeah.. its a sightseeing tour haha.The second one is a boat ride and that boat has a glassfloor, so you can see the underwaterlife. i'm pretty excited about these two rides. like i said...its amazing here.. the sand is cracking when the waves get back. the feeling of the water around my feet and me slowly sinking more and more into the sand with every wave that comes...its overwhelming for me. you can here all sorts of wild animals and weird bird sounds everywhere. theres a cat living here at the hotel or its natural surroundings and i already made friends with it.i'm going to take a rest now, still havent slept since friday morning. gonna see what tomorrow brings :)

just chilled on the beach after a very good breakfast with fried eggs, bacon, pancakes, roasted buns, etc. i dont need lunch here...the funny thing is, its not even so damn sweaty on the beach, even in the direct sun. the humidity is a lot lower as when you walk like a hundred meters into the island. also you got the constant sea breeze that cools you down all the time.the ocean is amazing... Turquois near the beach and deep blue towards the horizon. from the beach here i can see the islands Silhouette and Northern Island. I have imagined Silhouette a lot smaller OR its closer as i think OR i was just wrong which is probably the case.Another nice fact: you must think in the tropic regions you will get bugged all the time by flies and moskitos and other nasty insects but thats totally not the case. You more get bugged by local guides that try to make you sign up for one of their trips. now i have already booked mine with the local travel agency that takes care of me here (Jaqluine from Creole Travels and Bertiya (hope i got that right) from the hotel) are my two people here that are "in charge of me". They are both incredibly nice and speak german pretty good (both have lived in germany for years).some of you (or all) might think already "he is on the seychelles, what the fuck is he doing on his laptop all the time?" Thing is i tend to forget details and i want to be able to read this myself and look at the pictures to remind myself of the things i thought here ,also they urge you to avoid the sun around noon till afternoon, so everyone is either moving into the shadows then or taking a nap and thats what i will do right now. i'll get up round afternoon to get back to the beach, chill even more and read some pages in my book ("Snuff" by Chuck Palahniuk), listen to some music on my Zune (listened to the new Heather Nova album "The Jasmin Flower" on the beach today and its an amazing album! her best since "oyster" i think. If you like here music, then now the fact that she was born on an island, raised on a boat and now living on the Bahamas again. You have to listen to hear early albums or the new one at a place like this here to truly know why her music is so beautiful.)A girl was in the water and trying to catch a fish that swam around here all the time, you could see the turns he did by the direction the girl was looking all the time. it amazed me that the two of them were "playing" like this, that the fish didnt get scared and fled...
like every 30seconds on the beach i said to myself "you are really here...you made it...this is what you were longing for for sooo long and its happening right now. you are here, and no one ever will take this away from you again." Some People only see Black (like me) or White, some say theres millions of Shades of Grey, but today i saw the brightest white a human being can imagine.

yeah so i wanted to get up at sundown, but i totally overslept, so i'll be staying up now for sunrise, have a massive breakfast then and afterwards i'll chill in the shadows and read a bit cause i already have sunburn on my feet and upper inner arms haha. i have like at least another hour to spare before sunrise, so i'll keep doing what i was doing for the last hour: i'm watching kenny vs spenny.i'd love to go out and explore the place a bit but its just too damn dark and the roads and paths are just too tricky, i already almost sprained an ankle yesterday in brightest daylight walking on a paved road. Thats like a downside of this place. though its a place for basically the richest of the rich to get away from public, you should think that theres no poverty here but thats not the case. i dont know how the situation is really, but on the busride from the airport to the hotel i saw places and groups of "houses" which i would just call "slums". i'll try to get some pictures of it on wednesday during the bus ride round the island. but like i said, i dont really know if the people living in there are really poor, or if there are any really poor people on this island. maybe thats the normal housing for the working people... i dont know, but you get that thought if you see what i mean.

just wrote all the postcards and gonna drop them off in a few minutes... unfortunately i am a retard and forgot to ask Samis for his adress... shame on em!will hang out at the pizzeria restraunt for a while and then head back to the room since its raining at the moment and the beach is closed anyways. its pitchblack there, so its really not safe to go there, a lot of stuff comes to the beach with the waves you could trip over or step on and hurt yourself.i'm amazed how easy it is to spend/waste time here... just take a towel, head to the beach, chill and when you look at the clock its already a few hours later or the sun goes down all of a sudden!

Just came back from a trip around the island and as everything else it was amazing!First thing to see was the "Little Ben" in the Center of Mahe's biggest City and the Seychelles Capital Victoria. It really looks like a small silverish version of Londons Big Ben. Right next to it is the Seychelles only Trafficlight! We went onto the Victoria Market, saw fresh caught fish, lots of fish´... in all forms. lots of fruits and vegetables as well as all sorts of spices. i bought a big bag of all different spices and try to make something nice out of it when i am back home. That thing just cost me 40 Rupees, which is only about 3€. stunning. I have to get back to City and check out the shops more during the next week.After the Victoria Market we went on a bus ride to a place called "Mission Lodge / Venn's Place". Its just ruins now with only one piece of wall left but it was a Mission for Children a long time ago. Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visited the place in the 70s and i took a picture just where she stood back then. Yawnful kind of, but the view was simply terrific.Next stop was a Tea Factory, where they showed us how the people picked all the leaves by hand, dried them and so on.Last stop of the trip was a private place with a beautiful hut to have lunch in. I had steamed rice with Redsnapper and i think small shark bits that tasted and looked just like chicken. I also had Breadfruit and the legend says, that everyone who eats Breadfruit will come back to the Seychelles :) also it tastes like Potatoe and smells like Mango. Weird hehe.After the Lunch we went up the hill (which was a terrible torture since it was really really steep and the sun was burning as hell, to see free living giant turtles. Then we hung out at the private beach for a while before we got back to the bus to get to the hotel again.The busrides themselves lead us via serpentine roads right through the jungle and over the mountains. I am amazed that those busses are able to get over those roads, i thought a 4x4 would have been a lot better, but the busses made it. slow but anyways. it was good that they were slow so i could take a lot of pictures of the scenery, the jungle...Now i'm back in the hotel and tired as hell, its dark already outside and i am not hungry, so there is not a lot to do anymore, means i'll get to bed VERY early and see what tomorrow brings. Thanks to Sheena, Bernada (our two guides! Sheena lived a long time in berlin and she definitly speeks with a berlin-accent and i think i also heard an "icke" haha) and Dominique who was our driver. I had an amazing and exhausting day (thank you heat and direct sun!), the sunburn on my right foot has developed a blister (small but nasty).I'll be on a boattrip on friday and since the trip today was so good i am really looking forward to this a lot more as i already did before :)

Also people over here are reacting to my tattoos a lot different as people in europe. In Europe they only just look and if they show a facial expression its mostly disgust or something similar. Over here people give me thumbs up, some also talk to me about how much it did costs, what the most painful one was, how long they did take etc. They wanna know about tattoos and they are really interested, which i can say is the form of attention that i like, the good one, the one were you can take aways fears and prejudices about tattooed people, also i have to say i am unbelievably nice here to the people, but that kind of comes from them, they are just all cool and nice here. not like the people in europe. also only young people over here are tattooed and its only just the occasional tribal on the upper arm. you dont see any sleeves or pictures tattooed
here.

i just woke up from a terrible noise outside that wouldnt stop... i thought they were doing the lawn outside or cuttings on some trees but then i had a look: Tropical Rainstorm....you wouldnt believe how loud this is! i cant even understand my own laptop...we'll see how long that takes.

11:55am: Still Raining

4:44pm: it stopped raining about an hour ago so i went into the hotels pizzeria restaurant and had lunch, the second since i came here. I just had a 22€ Lasagne which was worth every cent! apart from my mums lasagne the best i've ever had! but since my stomach has trained down to only non-fat-dripping breakfast i now have a severe case of "hell-i-am-going-to-shit-my-intestines-out" and in fact writing this on the toilet of my room. speaking of my room, it also started raining again heavily as i was on my way back, so the day today has literaly fallen into the water and i call it a no-go for the rest of it. i'll be going to the bar though in a few to hang out and read a bit and watch the rain and the ocean. The Pizzeria Restaurant is great! the food is delicious, they have the nicest employees and a real fast cook. also they are playing oldies mixed with a bit newer tunes over the PA all the time, which is nice cause i knew and liked them all haha. Though lyriclines line "i wanna know what love is", "ain't nothing but a heartache" or "i must have loved you before i met you cause i dreamed about you" did remind me of Butterfly and made me go sentimental for a while, also because she send me textmessage on October 10th that said that she was very sad about loosing me and that i didnt trust her and that she wanted to let me know that no matter where i was and what happened, she's with me all the time.A textmessage that i never answered...just like the last few. I know she likes me and i do too, but if you might read this (and for those who REALLY know me and about this) you know it wouldnt have worked out. i said this a couple of times already and it sound like a broken record by now but i dont care. i also dont care if you think i'm a pussy or fucking emo when it comes to this topic, most of you only have "fuck partners" and nothing what i would call real love that goes beyond "yeah i love you too"... ever hated a person so much but at the same time wanted to be with that person so much, ever wanted to be with a person so badly but too afraid of the moment where you have to go again to make it to that person?(wouldnt be surprised if samis and denise are the only ones i know that stay together forever. the two of them are together since the day i first met them, which is about 8 or 9 years ago.). well...i hope you are good though and fulfill your dreams, just like i fulfilled this dream right here, where i am right now. i know you can do it, butterfly

So back to the normal stuff... the place today is crowded with chinese people in navyblue trousers, leather shoes and white short sleeved shirts, a lot of security guys and a few soldiers from the Seychelle's Army. Bertiya told me the chinese Embassy, which is located in Victoria, has a convention today here and in fact some high chinese official/politician is on the seychelles right now too. Its no big deal though since there are no problems with the security guys or the army guys, everyone is chilled and no one really makes a hassle. its just a few more people that all look the same haha.

I'm so exhausted... just got back from the "Starfish" Travel to the St.Anne Marine Park and Moyenne Island. First of all i wanna say that all the people from the Creole Travel Service are amazingly nice people. One of the girls calls me "The Colorful Man" because of all my tattoos haha. Our guide today was called Jimmy. We went by bus from the Hotel to the Harbour and went onto the boat by foot. We went towards Moyenne Island, a small rocky island with very dense vegetation. The Island is only half a squarekilometer big and is owned by Brendon Grimshaw, who bought the Island in the 70s (?!?) for only 10.000 Pounds. He is still living on the island in a small bungalow next to the "jolly roger restraurant". He lives there with 4 dogs and about 115 Turtoises, all of them living free on the island without any boundaries, in fact they were all around us all the time. There were to "traffic jams" on the foot trail because a turtoise decided that the center of the path was the place to take a rest. Moyenne has some marvelous views on the island Mahe, La Digue and Pralin. Also on the Island are three graves, two of them are pirategraves, that were discovered in 1899 as rockpiles and made into real graves out of coralconcrete with crosses on them. they were refurnished in 1991 and a third grave was added: that of Brendon Grimshaw's Father, who lived happily on the Island with his son Brendon for 5 Years before he died on the Island. The two pirategraves are marked with "Unhappily Unknown". It is said that a treasure is hidden on the island somewhere, and Brendon searched for it, but after some mysterious incident he but the shovel aside and decided to stop. something was telling him not to touch the treasure. Brendon lived on the Island together with his best friend Rene who passed away last year. Brendon is of british origin and was a reporter in Africa. while the others went swimming i stayed with him and had a very nice talk with him for about an hour. he told me about his struggles with the Vietnamese Officals as he went to Saigon because they didnt knew what the Seychelles were as he handed them his Passport, they thought it was some country they made up and the passports were fake. They kept the passports at the customs and let them into Saigon (him and Rene)for a hundred dollars each. since the passports never left the international zone at the airport, they technically never were in Saigon. As they went back to the airport to fly home they got their passports back, also the officials must have checked the seychelles since they wrote the Country onto a board under a long list of countrys. countrys that people came from to visit saigon/vietnam. Brendon and Rene were the first Seychelloires to ever enter Vietnam. He also told me the story of him getting the Seychelloires Passport through a long time friend who became the Minister of Immigration. As a result to that, the British Embassy deporter him from his English Citizenship because he accepted to become an official citizen of the Seychelles. Apparently he turned his back onto the Queen, but that was not the case, cause the Seychelles Officials basically begged him to accept their Citizenship. Years later as the United Kingdom started to accept double Nationality he again became a proud member of the UK and is now waiting for his new passport to arrive since his old one was not valid anymore, a passport that he said was never used once.The funniest story although was the one of Derrick the turtoise. A 150 year old one that just loved bananas and everything that had the color yellow. and in fact Derrick is also responsible for the island of Moyenne (if not the whole seychelles) to become famous. A british royal was visiting the island decades ago (i think he said the early 70s) and she had a yellow skirt thing above her swimsuit. Derrick was totally into that skirt and started to approach her, bit the skirt and pulled it away from her, starting to eat it. She wasnt pissed or so about it and Brendon promised to get it back from Derrick, which he did. Back in England the story got a big newspaper article in various newspapers and thats how Moyenne became famous. I was glad though that Derrick died last year, because i had my yellow Fallbrawl-Shirt on haha!I could have talked with Brendon for hours but unfortunately we had to get back to Mahe.A very nice old man, with a lot to tell and he's not like you would imagine such a person, a world traveller who owns a beautiful island in Paradise. He's so down to earth its unbelivable. He also does not want that his island becomes a hotelisland, something the Seychelles Officials would love to do, but he is totally against it and doesnt allow it because he wants to preserve the nature and animals on the island. He made a deal with a foundation that will inherit the island when Brendon dies and they will keep it just like it is today, for the Jungle and the Animals, so that Tourists can see what the pure seychelles are like. After all this, we went back to the boat and headed back to Mahe. I am right now in my room again, totally exhausted though i didnt do much, but walking around in the hot bright sun on the beach and the moist jungles is taking its toll. I gave my parents a call to let them know i'm doing great and to check how my grandma is doing and everything is fine back home.

PS: the Sunburn on my foot has developed and even bigger blister...

Went for a long walk on the beach today towards the north end of the island and i got asked by four different guys if i wanted to buy something to smoke or even worse: cocaine. i kindly sent them away cause i am alone here and i dont wanna get into a hassle with some drugdealers over here. but it makes me think... what really makes people turn criminal. it clearly cant be the place you are living in... cause this place is paradise. The People here could also start something else easily but they decide to sell drugs. i just dont get it. Of course i can imagine that it is easier to sell tourists some drugs but is it worth the risk to go into jail for years? cause selling or being in possession of drugs is not a minor crime over here. you go to jail for a minimum of at least 2 years if they find just a small amount of weed on you here on the seychelles.I dont think that this is worth it. or is it?! please tell me if you have an opinion on this...

I just had the expensive lasagne again from the hotel's pizzeria restaurant and i'm still sitting here out on the backporch of the restaurant just about 10m from the beach away, i hear the waves, i feel the sun. it looks like rain again though in about 3 hours or so. The rain here is so loud, you wake up from it even if the TV is on.The Sun is about to go down and i'll wait here till that happened, i'm directly under a palmtree that has some coconuts on it, so i hope i wont get hit by one when its falling down, but i think they are not ripe yet so i should be pretty safe haha. fingers crossed.I also got told that those birds i first thougt were Beo's, are nothing else as the equivalent to the european Ouzel. So its a common bird and nothing special. I just saw that a small lizard (about 10cm long from head to tail) is taking a sunbath right next to me on the handrail just about 40cm away from me, unfortunately i dont have my camera with me right now, but i already have lizard pictures, so its ok. I love this place... Tomorrow i think i will check out the beach to the western side and maybe try to find that abandoned church that i looked up on google earth.Also i need to find some newspapers here. it sickens me to not be able to watch proper news or check them on the internet. A full week and i totally lost track with the World...and with the "Nerdworld" as well. no movie news, no music news, no game news, nothing...thats the most terrible thing here. there is a broadband hotspot right here, but the signal is to weak to make a working connection i guess...it takes minutes till i am connected to the network itself. i think i just gonna get me a big sunday newspaper, drop my legs into the pool tomorrow and have a long long read then. but guess i gonna have to catch up on a terrible lot of news when i am back home.

Another fun/weird/to me not yet known-fact: there must be an awful lot of crickets or other insect that makes that typical noise in the bushes right next to the beach and they all start simultaneously and also stop at the same time again. or its just a huge single one haha, but i guess thats not the case....or...i hope so.

just went back from the restaurant to my room and i'll call the day over for now. it's about to start to rain again as well.I am thinking of ways to get to live here...would the creole travel agency hire me as a german guide if i learn all the necessary facts about the seychelles? could i find something to offer or to do that doesnt exists here? Would Times of Graces maybe relocate to the seychelles to open the premier tattoo studio of the Indian Ocean? could i become a fotographer or a graphic artist here for whoever needs something done?! but i guess there are enough people for that over here and then theres the internet of course. damn the internet haha. open a classic german restaurant maybe?! with sauerkraut, schweinshackse, schnitzel and fassbier? Maybe put up a housebuilder company that builds houses the german way, with all the isolation stuff, double-glassed windows, etc... people could save lots of money with the right kind of isolation instead of blasting the AC all day. "Houses" over here are made of concrete without isolation i think, tin roofs and wooded-framed single glass-layered windows, the kind that is totally not cost-efficient. if any other way to make it happen comes to YOUR mind, please let me know!!

Having said that,i think Jimmy (the tourguide from my trip to Moyenne) has one of the greatest jobs in the world i think. He goes on these trips 6 days a week, one trip per day with the sunday off. the trips start at about 11am and are over at 5pm, most of the time you just sit on a bus or a boat and tell the tourists some facts about what they see. he gets to swim and snorkel through reefs and see all sorts of fishes, he gets to go to the paradisiac island Pralin, La Digue, Bird Island, North Island, Moyenne all the time. see turtles lay eggs, swim with Dolphins, etc all the time. stuff that we pay a fortune for to see...Tomorrow is sunday and everything will be closed, so i will definitly do that newspaper thing, i just hope they will have a good one.

The "abandoned church" has been refurbished and looks totally new and neat.... so its uninteresting.Also the footpath to Anse Mayor apparently is a 90 minute footwalk.i will never make that. i'll die on my way there.so i skip this for now but i absolutely keep this in mind for my next visit here. maybe i'll even go there by boat.

just got back from Victoria, walked around the city a bit and got me some nice shirts. i actually cant believe how cheap they are if you go to the correct stores. i got me two at some store called "Pineapple Studios Boutique" and they were 16euro each. Normal price for me. Then i got me two other shirts at a different store and they were only 135 Rupees each, which is about 7,5€ each!!! unbeliavable! Taxi ride to the city cost me 100 Rupees, which is not much for the distance. totally acceptable price. Though it seems the rest of the Day will fall victim to the rain again, since its raining already all the morning and it doesnt seem to stop (thats why i didnt take any pictures in Victoria now...i just didnt bring my camera during this heavy rain). So the restaurant will open in an hour now and i'm going to chill there a bit, read a few pages in my book, have a snack and a coke.Also i think its funny that movies here are uncut (even on TV) but all curse-words and curse-phrases that contain a religious word, for example "for god's sake", are muted out, but still readable in the subtitles. Its normal though i guess in a country that has 92,8% Catholic population. In fact in Victoria you can find a big Catholic church, a smaller prostestant one, a hindu and a buddhist temple. Maybe i should open up a Satanic Church over here?! haha....just... to get even again...keep the balance you know. ying yang.
Nov18th 9:11amSTWeather is still not good and i ran out of money right now. if the weather would be good, i would walk to the north end of the island. its a nice walk on beach of about 30minutes (cant be more) but its windy and very cloudy, so it could start to rain again any moment. gotta think of something to do. i guess i'll finish my book today. hang out at the pool and just read.

as i came back from breakfast the weather lightened up so i took my cam, a bottle of water and went for the walk! got some nice pictures from the stones on the beach, even got on top of a high one and sat there for about an hour, just watching the beach and the ocean with the cool seabreeze around me, so it wasnt very hot although i was in the direct sun all the time.i went as far as could up north the beach and saw some crabs, tiny white ones and big dark ones. after i got back to the hotel i laid myself down at the pool and read a few chapters in my book and listened to some records. amazing how fast 8 hours can go by. thats what i'll do for the remaining days now... go up the beach and sit on that rock and then chill at the pool. amazing life hahajust got back to my room since dark clouds were coming up and just made it in time...the moment i opened my door it started to rain again. its pretty easy to forecast the weather here.guess i'll call it a day again and get up even earlier tomorrow!

I became a very reliable weatherforecaster haha. this morning after breakfast i was hanging out at the pool when the weather became bad. just a few seconds before it started i decided to pack my stuff and get in. perfect timing.right now i am at the pool again since about 10am... think i wont do anything else today...its just too chilled.gonna have some decent dinner tonight as well.sun, water, a bit of wind and music / a book... thats all i need right now...
About the Weather: Its funny kind of, the first time you get here its like a kick in the groin. since i am used to the average central european weather i was absolutely not sure what to expect and the first day and a half it killed me. now i am used to it but today i noticed something else. the AC in my room is set to 25°C, which is nice and warm as i call it. but when you are outside here all the time, its actually pretty damn cold and in fact i sleep under a fleece blanket at night since i was freezing the first night i was here. same with weather change. i hung out at the pool today till now (3:30pm) and i got colder and colder during that time span, dropping from what must have been 35° and about 80° humidity to about 28° and "pretty dry air", though its still a much higher humidity as back in germany. for me right now these 28° are considered as "cold". i dont even wanna imagine what i feel like when i get back home to my "end of november germany"...that will probably have temperatures ranging from 0°C to 10°C.but what i will miss THE MOSTEST (i know that is not even a word but you get my point) is the sun and the blue sky.Thanks to modern technology known as "recorded sounds" i will still be able to hear the ocean when i want to. "Sounds of The Nature" is a great series of records by the way, but i just need one of them and i already got that one haha.

I got to learn today, that if you live on the Seychelles you dont have to pay Health Insurance. If you are sick, you just go to a doctor. this get financed by the fact, that for example you have a headache, you just get medicine for like 2 or 3 days. not as in germany for example where tons of medications are rotting away in peoples drawers cause you always get like a box of 30 pills, that last more than a year. so i say the Seychelle's system on that is pretty effective. Also i think that you dont need to pay any taxes for your car, cause the license plates here are simple black with a S for Seychelles and then a number. No other signs. I hope i remind to ask or look at a gas station how much the fuel is here. though i am not driver and i dont even have a license, i'm still interested in this.

just came back from a long walk on the beach, climbed my rock again and sat there for about an hour, then i went further through the rocks and found a nice one where no one could see me and i got out my magic marker and the stencil and put my logo on the stone...actually it looked better as i expected! after that the weather turned bad again and i went to the Baobap Pizzeria on the Beach to seek shelter from the heavy rain and to get myself something to eat. the pizza i had was nothing but amazing and the price is unbeatable for that size of a pizza. i paid 55 Rupees (about 3,50€) and had something left after i was finished. a pizza of that size cost more than twice back in germany. i'll definitly gonna visit this place again when i get back here someday. i gonna take a long long bath now to chill and relax and then i'll probably hang out at the pool again to watch the ocean.tomorrow i gotta pack all my stuff and enjoy my last free day here... cant believe its over already...there was a lenghty moment during the weekend but now its too soon...i wished i could stay a bit longer...

German as i am (i mean the cliché of germans being overly organized) i have already packed my stuff and basically am ready to go home. so i have all the time i need tomorrow. i have 370Rupees (of 1700 that i changed on my first day here) left and 50€. maybe i'll go to Victoria for another time tomorrow if the weather is really good. i wanna see the old graveyard.I'll head out to the bar again now for a while, have a drink and just chill some more.

Today turned out to be the nightmare i wanted to avoid but i am glad that it happened that late and not at the beginning of my stay here.i woke up to sunshine and blue sky, got my stuff and went out to see what the sky was like and then decide weither i go to the city or not. so i stood at the beach for a while then it started to rain all of a sudden from the only dark cloud. it was very heavy so i went towards the pizzeria bar to seek shelter there and have a meal but on my way there (about 20m walk) i went by the pool, slipped, sprained my right ankle and bruised my left knee. i sat down at the pizzeria bar to let the pain in the foot go bye but then i noticed the results of not drinking enough for the first time. i had to fight a blackout... i ordered a coke and managed to stay conscious, waited half an hour, got back to the room and now i am here with ice on my foot. i will be able to walk (i learned how to do that almost painfree throughout all the sprained ankles i had...this must be number 8 or 9 on the right foot alone...) but i think i wont be able to walk on the beach anymore or have longer walks...so i will have to stay inside the hotel area which is basically ok to me. i will skip the visit to the graveyard until my next stay here on the seychelles. though it sucks right now as i wrote this, cause the weather is great outside and i was really looking forward to this. well... cant be satisfied completely and this way i already have something planned for next time hehe.well gonna go back to the pool and chill there, put my foot up and well...wait for the day to be over.tomorrow i have to check out at 6pm and my shuttle to the airport is sheduled for about 8pm.since i have already packed everything, i can easily stay up longer tonight, enjoy an evening of doing nothing and sleep long tomorrow...guess if that'll work out as planned.....

I'm on the plane right now on my way back home. i'm tired from all the waiting after i checked out and on the airport.I was glad though cause i caught an rainfree hour to take a cab to the old graveyard in victoria and i was amazed. there are not a lot of graves for the size of the thing but its a spooky place. the graves are partially over 200 years old, they are weathered, some of the crypts are even open a little bit. i took some photos there as well of course. The trees there are so dense (especially the bamboo) and through the wind they are cracking and shreeking all the time, it makes the whole place even more spooky.then i thought i lost my passport but after i searched my luggage i asked to get entrance to my room again although i already checked out but it was no problem and i found my passport in the safe.so right now i am watching the "Special" with Michael Rapaport on my Laptop, i'll finish my book later (about 80 pages to go) and then i'll pump the whole Blind Guardian Discography into my brain.the flight will take about 8:30h from now on and then another two hours of trainride to Bochum. though i wished i was still on the Seychelles i now cant wait to be home again.

So What are my overall thoughts on the Seychelles?!

Some Facts:
1. I love walking around outside in my pyjama pants
2. I was down to one meal a day, its either a good breakfast or something warm in the afternoon
3. i dont drink alot here, just enough to keep myself from dehydration
4. the most attractive females to me are small blondes, that have the little bit more on their hips, i love the so called lovehandles. came to that conclusion finally (haha..) on the beach today where a lot of girls were today, more than usual. they were all more the model type of body, but this one girl caught my eye more than the others. just like Tina was (dont think anyone even knows who i am talking about)... i should have stayed friends with her, at least i would have been able to see her beauty from time to time. i'm a moron.
5. my one-person-bed at home is too small i always say.´,but this two-person-bed here is too big... its just empty and a waste of space to me...
6. except for Bertiya who knows i am German, people think i'm an american. three conversations came across the sentence "oh you're german?! i thought you're american!" funny thing.
7. I want english television....

VACATION

so in about an hour i will catch the bus to Bochum Mainstation to start my trip to fulfill myself a dream that i have since i am 14 or something round that time.
I will go by train to Düsseldorf, switch trains there and go to Frankfurt Airport to fly to the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. For those of you who dont know about the Seychelles, its a paradisiac group of Island with unique flora and fauna, white beaches and crystal clear water. Its about 25-30°C there every day at this time of the year. I saved ALL the money i could since Christmas 2007 and made it THAT fast. I can't believe it. I'll start to when i bury my feet in sand tomorrow and wiggle my toes to feel the grain.
One or two of you know about this dream that kept coming back to me over the last 14 years. It was just like a little flash that crept into normal dreams, just an image of a person at a beach under a palmtree and it haunted me kind of. It was confusing to dream "normal stuff", then wake up and think "what the fuck was that beachthing supposed to be?". It started to grow in my mind and I realized i wanted to go there to see it myself, to make the dream a memory.
My journey starts today and is finished tomorrow morning at 8:45 Seychelles Time when i arrive at the Hotel, unpack my stuff and go to the beach.
Right now its raining over there, but thats cool cause in November there's just an average of 6 raindays. Even if it should rain for 5 more days straight.... i couldn't care less.
I'll be there.

IF i have internet in the hotel, i might drop in every now and then to give updates and make you all jealous with some photos :)
I'll be back on November 23rd, until then i want you all to stay safe, have fun, enjoy life as much as you can and dont miss me (haha...as if!)

well as some of you will know, i am finally going on vacation! i'm flying to Mahé, Seychelles on November 7th for two weeks. am i excited?! ask charlotte, she can probably tell you, cause i'm stressing her nerves with all the news about this even its only the tiniest bit of information haha. i'm a sadist, i'm sorry charlotte!! i'll try to make it up with Peanutchips or something else.

i am also very happy that there are a few dates before that.
I will pay Phil, my travel agent, tomorrow a visit and pick up all the detailed info etc.
then on next friday a friend of mine and local promoted is having a Birthday show in Essen. its a very small venue and he has none other thatn Dutch/German heavyweight BORN FROM PAIN on the bill. I havent seen the band live since their releaseshow for their last record "WAR" in Recklinghausen. Also on the bill are local legends and european hardcore heros in BLACK FRIDAY 29, then its SOLID GROUNDs final show, followed by Sirens and St.Hood.
All bands will play lots of covers, so it will be a lot of fun, massive sing-a-longs and since i know what people will be there, it promises to be just pure fun and party!

On the following Monday i will drive to Cologne with Chris from Cerberus Photography. He will see Bring Me The Horizon and i hope to be able to hang out with good friend Sheep, who is their tourmanager.
Later that week i'll be going to the city to get me a notebook. and on the 19th i'll see my boys in REDUCTION once again in Duisburg in the Rehearsal spaces. its a sunday show so it will a bit lamer as usual i guess but that leaves more time for hangouts.

then is finally the week of Running Riot Fest!!! the whole thing will start with a show on thursday in the rehearsal spaces again with none other than NYHC's own BILLY CLUB SANDWICH, Duisburgs local heroes CIRCLE OF DEATH and finally the first ever show by new band CITY TO CITY which i am VERY excited about since i had the chance to listen to their upcoming debut MCD at their guitarists flat. Amazing band! i'm psyched!
the its straight home, shower, bed and in the morning to Dortmund Airport and off to London! Pre Show with Dead Swans, DIRTY MONEY and the final show by HONOUR AMONG THIEVES. Running Riot on Saturday and Sunday, back home on Monday.
I'll chill for four or five days and then i'll already pack all my stuff for my vacation, run a checklist to make sure i have everything with me, so that i can chill the last days before i go without worrying if i might have forgotten anything.

i have already printed out infos about Frankfurt International Airport to find my way around real quick, i searched Mahé on Google Earth for interesting places and i think i have found some very nice things i want to see during my vacation there. For Example an old abandoned Church that is just 2km down the road from my hotel, an old graveyard in about the same distance and a paradise like tiny strip of beach in about 5-6km distance, which is reachable only via a footpath through the jungle. i got prints of all this and i will also put it all on my new laptop so i can check directions and stuff.

so am i excited?! seems so ;)

about the last sentence.....do we really feel things or cause we just should i think that depends a lot on where these things are coming from. with music for example....a friend gives you a song and says "here listen to that", it might hit your taste in music and you maybe even like it alot, but i think the only things music we do REALLY feel is the stuff from when we were younger. when our minds werent opinionated already and we didnt care about tastes of others and scenes and the 'public thought' on "subcultures" it was just there... we stumbled over it somehow. people just have to set their minds free of all "standards" shouldnt care about what others think...if someone able to reach that state, he might discover new stuff again and like it as much as the "old stuff"
like.....you know the feeling yourself when you listen to some hardcoreband that you really like and then you tune in on Journey for example...it feels different doesnt it?!

i DID it! i saved enough money in basically 9 months to book two weeks on the mainisland of the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. As you can see, i am going there in november. temperatures are around 26-30 degrees, november has an average of 6 raindays. whitest sands, crystal clear water...
oh boy am i excited!!!!
